I'm having a hawaiian luau party for my five year old daughter. I wanted to know of any ideas of games, party favors, decorations, etc. I have leis, grass mats for hula dancing, but I want to make it unique a memorable. Any ideas would be great. Thanks
try oriental trading - they have a catalog and website and some pretty cute and not too expensive stuff.
I served drinks in coconuts for my luau...don't know about 5 year olds..too many spills maybe.
Kids love sand art - layered in colors in the bottles - nice little party favor and an art activity.. kinda beachy
Tiki torches are fun

1-Floating flower centerpieces.
2-Hawaiian music.
3-Twinkle lights in the little paper lanterns around the deck.
4-A card game like "Wild Tuna"
5-A hula (hoop) contest.
6-A fresh lei for each guest, get the ones from the store if you can't make fresh.
7-Pig roast (okay so make it a pork roast), teriyaki chicken, fresh fruit, macadamia nuts ...

Party invites, pinata, decorations, cake...
I had a hula party and I bought long toothpicks that had flowers on the end and cut up watermelon,strawberries,melon,... and grapes and made fruit sticks...
A pineapple upside down cake would be the perfect touch to a Hawaiian themed party.
goldfish crackers
Hawaiian pizza..
For drinks, take see through mini water bottles and remove the labels. Add water or clear soda and add food coloring to them to make red, yellow and orange and green colored "tropical punch" drinks.
Tropical Coolers
1 cup pineapple chunks
1 small package Kool-Aid (blue or orange for a tropical look)
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
Ice cubes
Strawberries (for garnish)
Add pineapple chunks to blender and blend for 30 seconds. Add Kool-Aid, sugar, water and ice cubes. Blend until smooth. Garnish edge of glasses with a strawberry.
Good Luck and have a blast!!!

Having a party this weekend and I'm disappointed in the decorations I got online. What can I do to make my own?
Here's some photos that might give you some ideas:

If you see something you'd like to make, just ask and I'd be happy to help!

me and my friends are throwing a luau themed 8th grade graduation party. what kinds of food, decorations, and activities should we do? This is what we have so far:
coconaut glasses
grass skirts
hawaiian shirts
tiki lamps
some type of hawaiian served pork
tropical fruits like pinapple
leis (flowery necklaces)
hawaiian music
any others? also what could we do, like activities?
the biggest staple of hawaiian food is poi - ground taro gunk - tastes weird. here's what i did. i got a big bowl of vanilla yogurt and colored it with black food coloring until it turned grayish. told everyone they had to try some - it's eaten with the fingers only. everyone tried and went "oh, that's not so bad". some even had seconds. lots of conversation about it. later, told them it was yogurt and had a laugh.
also got blue kool aid and made "blue hawaiians" without the liquor of course. just umbrellas and cherries added.
as for activities, you can always play "pass the fruit" use bananas, oranges, apples. people hold hands together behind their back - put fruit under chin, and have to pass fruit from one person to the next just using their head and neck.

So I've finally decided to have a luau for my 21st party but now I'm trying to find somewhere in the Brisbane/Ipswich area that sells them as I have found some cool stuff on the net but don't really wanna pay P&H fees. Can anyone suggest any good places? Oh it would also be great if they had websites!! Thanks!!
The $2 and Reject type shops will have some things that you could use like bright table decorations I would just check them all out. Have a great night
