Luau Party for five year old,,,ideas??
I'm having a hawaiian luau party for my five year old daughter. I wanted to know of any ideas of games, party favors, decorations, etc. I have leis, grass mats for hula dancing, but I want to make it unique a memorable. Any ideas would be great. Thanks
try oriental trading - they have a catalog and website and some pretty cute and not too expensive stuff.
I served drinks in coconuts for my luau...don't know about 5 year olds..too many spills maybe.
Kids love sand art - layered in colors in the bottles - nice little party favor and an art activity.. kinda beachy
Tiki torches are fun

Well you have to have grass hula skirts. Maybe you can find some coconuts ( not real) but fake ones to put the drinks in with straws and umbrellas. I would make pinapple and chicken teriyaki kebobs.

I had a Luau party for my daughter when she was five. I found a web site (sorry, I don’t remember what it was) that would translate names into Hawaiian and made name tags for everyone. Some of them were really fun and still used today (her Uncle Rick translated to Uncle Liki!). I also cut fruit into chunks, cut the points off wooden skewers, and let the kids make fruit kabobs for a treat.
We played Beach Boys music and the sound track from Lilo & Stitch.

I had a luau for my sons birthday. You can go to the Oriental Trading Company on line. They have a great choice of party favors and trinkets for parties. There current catelogue had a great selection of Luau gear. The shipping is not bad, and it’s quick. We teachers use them all the time.
We took a barbeque to the park, and had everyone show up in Hawaiian shirts.

We had a Luau party for our daughter and son. We bought clear plastic containers (the kind a deli uses for salads) and lids and put goldfish/angel fish in them for party favors for the kids to take home. We bought the bright rocks for the bottom and put water(obviously LOL) in them and then the fish. The kids loved them. For the cake, I made a round one and frosted it with blue icing for water and then put a smaller cake in the center (I made from baking in a small glass bowl) it looked like an island and put tan icing on it and covered it with graham cracker crumbs to look like sand. Then put a little palm tree and people on it. Also, a great website is Family Fun. We got great ideas from the Family Fun magazine. Good Luck and have fun.
