hmm, i’ve always liked the speakeasy theme, or like a 20′s theme over all. you know, get the whole flapper look and the guys could wear bowler hats. it’s classy with a hint of rebellion in it. i’m not sure if that look is iconic in australia, but there’s one idea.
or you could have a mock gambling night. since its going to be on a boat, i’m sure it’ll be super classy already.
oh and i had an awesome invite idea, if its any help: you should make it discreet as possible, because speakeasy’s and gambling nights were and are for the priviliged only (sort of). so don’t give like a "hey, come to this party and 9" give like a a hint or something and they’ll have to get on the list. the rest you can take from there.

What are some great 18th birthday party themes?
I’m turning 18 in a few months but I want to get in early, because a girl I know is turning 18 on the same day. I need some party themes that are fun, but I also would like to make it a formal-dress thing, because we’re going out clubbing after (I’m in Australia, drinking age is 18). Any ideas?
They need to be unique or unusual, so people want to come to my party rather than hers (her theme is going to be black & white).
Important: The party is going to be on a boat.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
