Luau Party Invitations Give Clues to Tropical Themes

You can easily clue guests into the theme of your Luau party with the style of invitations you choose to send out. People often think that it’s necessary to spell out every little detail of the party on their invitations. It is not, you can use the style of your wording the artwork on the invitations to clue in your guests about the party theme.

Only one word is really needed to describe this party theme on invitations anyway, Luau! Definitely put this at the top of the invitation you shouldn’t have any problems with guests inadvertently showing up in country western attire and expecting steak. Other good keywords that you can use sparsely throughout the invitation are; tropical, grass skirts optional, leis not included, Hawaiian, Palm Trees, and Aloha friends.

Artwork on invitations can be very easy and simple. You can even cut out the invitation in a cool tropical shape. Try making a simple pineapple shape or a grass skirt shape. For the grass skirt cutout invitation you can also cutout swatches of green construction paper and glue it in layers on the front of the invitation for the grass leaves. Take a fine marker and add the little details to the paper grass. If you aren’t so good with artsy cutouts buy and use bright colorful paper for your invitations in tropical colors like; bright greens, oranges, yellows and blues. Then let the wording of your invitation tell guests what to expect.

Don’t forget about the envelope that your invitation goes in. Often times the prettiest of invitations can show up in boring plain white envelopes. Add a few accents to the envelope so guests will be excited to see what’s inside. You can find stamps with tropical fruit shapes on them and apply a few well placed marks to the bottom front of the envelope or on the back flap.

Make a Hawaiian Luau Craft Necklace for Your Party Guests

A Hawaiian luau is a fairly festive event, mostly famous for ham and pineapples. It's not hard to see why you've chosen to hold one. Now, all you need is some kind of crafting project to tide over the guests while the food finishes cooking.

One of the easiest craft projects for a festive party like this is to make a beaded necklace, so I'd recommend making Hawaiian leis. The ingredients are fairly easy to come by, virtually any crafting store that you come across is going to have more than enough beads and string for any number of guests and designs that you could come up with. Although you could always go the traditional style and use flowers to make yours.

Now the method for making these is quite simple, first you'll need to come up with the design for your lei. Such as color scheme, number of small beads to large beads, if you intend to use flowers, etc. Alternatively, it can sometimes be fun to just make it up as you go along; nothing says you have to have a plan.

You'll want to make sure that your string for the lei is long enough to go around your neck and still have plenty of leeway for tying together at the ends. Finally you simply string the beads together and tie the ends of the tread together, you may want to use some glue to either hold the last beads in place or to hold the knot on the string together. Otherwise there is a chance the beads will go flying everywhere if the knot comes undone.

If you want to use some flowers, you'll need to put a hole through them to string them together. However, you should remember that unless you use dried flowers, they will wither and die on the lei. "
